Responsibility to our people

A culture of talent and innovation

We believe in engagement and that nurturing and supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace results in better team dynamics and decision making. We believe this leads to superior outcomes for our clients and our business.

We are proud of our inclusive and transparent culture that stems from senior leadership throughout the organisation and have a philosophy of open access that promotes a culture of community and removes hierarchy.

We take steps to ensure our staff feel treated fairly and equally, and host diversity & inclusion (D&I) and employee forums, attended by staff from across the business.

As part of our broader approach to D&I, we continue to attract talented individuals at all levels and pay our employees fairly for their roles.

From 2024, our Gender Pay Gap reporting falls within RBC’s consolidated UK legal entities.

You can view reports from 2018 to 2023 below. These capture UK employee data relating solely to what was our fixed income business, BlueBay Asset Management.

Reports published from 2024 onwards capture UK employee data for all of RBC BlueBay. These are located here. RBC BlueBay data is labelled as RBC GAM UK.

The forum works with a number of external charities, organisations and think tanks to help drive our D&I work including City Hive, Reboot. and EMpower. RBC BlueBay’s CEO & Head of RBC GAM for EMEA APAC, Erich Gerth, is a member of the Standards Board for Alternative Investments’ EMEA Culture & Diversity Committee, aiming to create a platform for discovery and discussion around culture and diversity best practices.

For the last four years, we have partnered with three organisations to run our summer internship programme: 10,000 Interns FoundationGirls are Investors (GAIN) and Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), with the aim of promoting a more diverse generation of future investment professionals.

In 2023, we also launched a pilot two-year Graduate Rotation Programme to help foster junior staff within the organisation.

Our people also have access to a mentoring programme open to all staff and a GAM leadership development programme that aims to accelerate development of high-potential staff into leadership roles.

We also offer our employees a range of training programmes to support our D&I efforts in the workplace including:

  • Inclusion and Belonging
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Leadership and Management
